Four Nairobi staff charged with using trickery to obtain Sh1.3 million

Four Nairobi county employees have been charged with conspiring to defraud their employer of Sh1.3 million.

John Monyoncho, Salim Odhiambo, Antony Kirubi and Francis Kilonzo faced Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi on Tuesday.

They are accused of committing the offence on March 8 by pretending they could help Eastleigh Bar Owners Association to obtain a liquor licence from the Nairobi board.

The four are also charged with forging a liquor licence .

The prosecution says that on different dates this year, the suspects and others who were not in court obtained Sh100,000 from the association.

They used the same trick to acquire Sh424,000, Sh50,000 and Sh790,000 from the complainant, bringing the total to Sh1,364,000.

The four denied the charges and were released on Sh100,000 bond or Sh30,000 cash bail each.
