Uhuru to skip AU meet over ‘urgent State matters’

President Uhuru Kenyatta will not be attending the Africa Union summit in Mauritania due this weekend as he attends to urgent State matters.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has been held back by urgent state matters and will not attend the African Union Summit in Nouakchott, Mauritania” a statement by the State House spokesman sent to newsrooms on Friday noted.

The president has deployed Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma to lead Kenya’s delegation to the summit, the statement said.
