Kenya: One dies, Murang’a executive survives accident

One person died in an accident involving the vehicle of a Murang’a County official.

The passenger who died on the Maragua-Kenol road was identified as a relative to Water and Cooperatives CEC Paul Macharia.

Mr Macharia suffered a fractured leg and was taken to Murang’a referral hospital, where he was admitted for specialised treatment.

Governor Mwangi wa Iria went to the scene of the accident and later visited his CEC at the hospital, and wished him quick recovery.

Maragua traffic officers inspected the scene and towed the wreckage of the vehicle to Maragua police station.

Murang’a County Police Commander Josphat Kinyua said the driver of the vehicle lost control and veered off the road.

Residents near Kwa Wamaria area where the accident took place asked the Government to erect bumps to help curb accidents on the section.
