Rwanda to send troops to South Sudan

Rwanda is planning to send more peacekeepers to South Sudan, as part of the UN Mission (UNMISS) in the country.

The acting Defence and military spokesperson, Col Rene Ngenda-himana disclosed this on Thursday, after the visit of U.N. chief, Herve Ladsous to South Sudan’s capital, Juba earlier in the week.

According to him, the first peacekeepers from Rwanda, Nepal and Bangladesh, will begin to arrive south Sudan in the next few weeks.

Rwanda currently maintains 1,650 troops as part of UNMISS.
