Three children drown in a dam in Wajir

Three children drowned in a dam in Abakorey, Wajir County, police said on Saturday.

The children, aged between 9 and 11, were swimming in Siligle Dam, Habaswein police boss Benjamin Kimwele told Nation.

They were buried hours after the Friday incident according to Islamic customs.

Mr Kimwele warned parents not to allow their children to swim in dams and rivers without the supervision of an older person who can swim.

“As the school holidays are upon us and we’re currently experiencing rain in most parts of the county, I advise parents to monitor the movement of their children all the time,” he said.
