Museveni names Esta Nambayo as new Chief Registrar

KAMPALA- President Museveni has appointed Ms Esta Nambayo as the new Chief Registrar of Courts of Judicature.

Ms Nambayo, who prior to her appointment was the Deputy Registrar of the Commercial Court, replaces Mr Paul Gadenya, who was this year, appointed as High Court judge.

“In the exercise of the powers vested in the President by Article 145 (2) of the Constitution, I hereby appoint Ms Eata Nambayo as the Chief Registrar of the Courts of Judicature,” President Museveni wrote to the chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission, Mr Benjamin Kabiito

The appointment letter that Daily Monitor has seen, is dated August 7.

Following the elevation of the then Chief Registrar Gadenya to the position of High Court judge, the position has been occupied by Mr Isaac Muwata in acting capacity.

The position of the Chief Registrar is one of the top five management positions in the Judiciary after the Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice, Principal Judge and the Secretary to Judiciary.

The core functions of the Chief Registrar are to implement policies and directions of the Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice and the Principal Judge.
