Uganda: Police disperse opposition members’ press briefing

KAMPALA- Police Tuesday dispersed a press conference that was being addressed by a group of politicians who are united under the People Power political wave, at Bativa Hotel in Makerere, Kampala.

The politicians were speaking about the recent brutal arrest of Mr Yusuf Kawooya, a member of the Opposition Democratic Party.

As former presidential aspirant Dr Abed Bwanika, Dr Michael Lulume (former Buikwe South MP) and others spoke to journalists,   police officers commanded by Wandegaya Police Commander Mr Godwin Ochaki, showed up and ordered them to leave.

Police say they had received information from the hotel management that the gathering was not “properly announced” to them.

People Power, is a “political idea” that unites various Ugandans who want Uganda’s current political leadership to change.
