NAIROBI – The much-awaited visit by the controversial American singer Chris Brown hasn’t started in a good atmosphere as he smashed a fan’s phone after reacting angrily to an attempt to take selfie with him at the airport.
Brown who arrived in his private jet Saturday could be seen snatching the phone from the female fan’s hands before smashing it to the ground much to the bemusement of the singer before he is ushered away by security at the Moi International Airport.
Speaking to the Kenya’s largest newspaper Daily Nation, the fan, who said she was “deeply disappointed by the artiste’s action,” wondered why Brown, a renowned singer, grabbed her phone and threw it away, landing on the floor.
“I was with my friends and was trying to take a selfie when he grabbed the phone from the back. I was shocked.” She said.
Mr. Brown had just landed in Mombasa for his much-anticipated show tonight, with a ticket to the show is going for $50 per person.
He was escorted to the English Point Marina under heavy security, with both personal and local bodyguards.
His Nigerian counterpart Wizkid was also booked in at the same classic hotel Friday night when he arrived.
Chris Brown, widely known as “Breezy” will also share the stage with Tanzanian Bongo flava star Ali Kiba and Ugandan rapper Navio.
Meanwhile, thousands of Kenyans took to the social media, calling Brown’s action ‘unacceptable’ driven by ‘arrogance’ and ‘conceit’.
