Ethiopia on right dev’t path: Outgoing Iranian Ambassador

The outgoing Iranian Ambassador Ali Bahreini praised the economic progress Ethiopia has been making as exemplary.

The Ambassador took leave of President Dr. Mulatu Teshome here yesterday.

Following talks with the president, Ambassador Ali told journalists that the two countries are home to ancient civilizations. He said this age-old and rich culture should be taken to the highest level.

He added that activities done during his tenure regarding the promotion of cultural, economic, scientific and security cooperation were fruitful.

Regarding nation’s economic growth, Ambassador Ali said the progress is visible to all. “We need to congratulate the government and people of Ethiopia for the progress they made.”

He added the future of Ethiopia is brighter and his country is keen to bolster cooperation in the areas of science and technology, peace and security with Ethiopia and the AU.

“Recently, the AU Commissioner for Security traveled to Iran and singed MoU to work together in the fields of peace, security, science and technology,” he noted.

Foreign Ministry Middle East Directorate Director General Suleman Dedefu, who attended the discussion, for his part said both countries have interest in expanding their relations.

There are few Iranian investors in Ethiopia which needs to be strengthened and the President called upon Iranian businesspersons to make use of investment opportunities in Ethiopia, he said.
