Dodoma — Law Makers in Tanzania’s Parliament has donated Sh100 million out of their daily allowances to the families of 35 people who were killed in a road accident on Saturday.

At least 35 people were killed in a road accident in northern Tanzania after a bus carrying students lost control, slipped off the road and crashed near Mlera River in Meatu District.

Those reported killed were 32 students, two teachers, and a bus driver according to Arusha Region Police Commander Charles Mkumbo.

Speaker of Parliament Job Ndugai said the money will be channeled to the office of Arusha Regional Commissioner and it will be handled to the families of the deceased later on.

“Our colleagues resolved that we should donate our daily allowance for the day as their condolences to the families. Contributions from MPs reached Sh86 million, and my office added Sh14 million,” Mr Ndugai announced.
