Boda Boda 2010: Minister asks Kitatta to resign as Rubaga NRM chairperson

The leadership of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has been compelled to respond to the arrest of Abdullah Kitatta, a major party mobilizer and NRM Chairperson for Rubaga Division.

Kitatta, who is the leader of the controversial organization known as Boda Boda 2010, was arrested over the ongoing investigations into the murder of former Case Hospital accountant Francis Ekalungar.

Minister without Portfolio, Abdul Nadduli who doubles as NRM’s Buganda Region Vice Chairperson wants Kitatta to resign from his position in the party.

Mr Nadduli has absolved the NRM party of any complicity in Kitatta’s alleged crimes.
Nadduli also advised that politics be kicked out of the boda-boda business to prevent power struggles that lead to criminal acts.

However, the Deputy NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong says the party will summon Kitatta to explain his activities.
Mr Todwong warns any member against denouncing Kitatta at this moment because he is still innocent until proven guilty.
