Police commander knocked dead in Kampala

KAMPALA- Police in Kampala are searching for a driver who Thursday knocked dead the commander of Kyebando Police Post, Francis Kato.

The deceased, according to a message from Kira Road Division Police Commander, Mr Michael Kasigyire, was knocked dead by a speeding car. He was on the way from Kira Road Police Station.

“Kira Road [Police] with deep sorrow announce the untimely death of ASP Kato, the OC Kyebando Police Post. The officer was knocked dead by an unidentified car while he was from duty at Kira Road where he worked as duty officer.

He was returning to his duty beat at Kyebando and he met his death. His body has been conveyed to city mortuary for a post-mortem. Rest in peace son,” Mr Kasigyire’s message which he shared on social media platforms, reads in part.

In November last year, the Mukono Division Commander of the defunct Flying Squad Unit, Rwego Muhoozi died in an accident on Ntenjeru-Katosi Road while running after suspected robbers.
