Release all those arrested over Arua fracas – Archbishop Lwanga tells government

The Archbishop of Kampala Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has asked government to allow Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake leave the country so as to seek specialized treatment abroad.

The Archbishop applauded government for allowing Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine to leave the country and seek medical treatment, arguing that the same should be done for MP Zaake.

“Zaake should be allowed to go to any country he wants to go to for treatment,” he said.

Lwanga who was speaking during the launch Rubaga Parish day celebrations also commended Lubaga hospital for helping to treat the two MPs shortly after they were returned to Kampala.

“I want to thank Lubaga Hospital for the difficult times of trial when they hosted the two MPs,” he said.
MPs Zaake and Bobi Wine were some of the people arrested in the run up to the Arua by-election which was won by Kassiano Wadri.

Archbishop Lwanga asked government to release all the other people still in jail over the Arua polls.
“We also request that those who are still in jail be released.

Some are still incarcerated but no one talks about them. Yesterday we saw a 16-year-old girl on TV who was shot and now some of her body parts are rotting. But most of them are innocent,” he said.

His remarks come just a day after Archbishop Stanley Ntagali asked cleric to go slow on politics.
