Tanzania: Women’s bank set for revival

Vice-President Samia Suluhu Hassan has said the government is planning to revive Tanzania Women’s Bank (TWB) to serve both men and women.

Officiating during a four-day Gender Festival organised by TGNP Mtandao at Mabibo, in Dar es Salaam, the VP said most of people are still saving their earnings at home which is risky.

She noted that approximately 2bn/- is out of the economic system because most women are saving their money at home, adding that the revival of the bank will emancipate most of marginalised men and women.

She called men to participate in eradicating domestic violence and called upon Non-Governmental Organisation to provide solutions and not concentrate at criticising the government.
