Another sheikh found dead in Mbale

Sheikh Issa Wampongo, a teacher at Yusra Primary School in Nakaloke and Masters student at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has been found dead.

Sheikh Wampongo is said to have gone missing from his home in Kireka in Nakaloke town council in Mbale District on Monday. However, his body was found lying in a stream in Kachumbala in Bukedea District on Tuesday morning.

Mbale District Police Commander, Steven Ahweera, confirmed his death but dismissed earlier reports that he had been killed by unknown assailants who picked him from his home.

He said the deceased had a mental problem.
The OC Nakaloke police station also said they are yet to confirm whether he was murdered.

“I request you allow us to investigate and establish the facts in the shortest time possible. We are doing our best,” he said.
