Eight arrested for stealing gun

Police in Hoima district have arrested eight people suspected to have stolen a gun from a private security guard.

According to police, the suspects are believed to have attacked and robbed a rifle number UG POL 67740 P 7865 from Businge Patrick a private security Guard of ANKA security services.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday morning at about 3am at Care Auto mobile opposite Total Kiryatete in Kahoora division in Hoima municipality in Hoima district.

Robbers assaulted the victim badly and he is in critical condition in Hoima Regional Referal Hospital for treatment, said Mr Julius Hakiza, the Albertine regional police spokesperson.

Detectives visited the Scene and recorded statements from witnesses.

The search for missing rifle is on, Hakiza said.

Residents of Hoima town were stunned this morning when they visited the scene of crime and found a pool of blood.

The blood reportedly oozed out of the security guard who was assaulted by the robbers.

The Matter is being investigated under HMA CRB 446/2018.

Cases of murder and robberies are on the increase in various parts of the country.
