Entebbe. The chief executive officer of MTK Uganda Ltd, Mr Francis Kitaka, has told graduates to desist from going abroad in search for employment, saying there are job opportunities for them in the country.
“Jobs are here, you do not need to go to abroad to foreign countries. Let us love our country because it does not make sense to go outside and do a job of Shs1 million,” Mr Kitaka said during the third graduation ceremony of University of Kisubi in Entebbe on Friday.
He urged government to tell banks to decrease their interest rates and encourage people to come up with innovative ideas which can turn into employment opportunities.
The Chancellor, Mr Peter Kazekulya, said the university is set to begin teaching Masters and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) courses.
“The success of this university since its inception in 2014 has been a result of hard work and team work as the entire university community and today we have seen 196 students graduate with 92 of them women and 104 men,” Mr Kazekulya said.
The vice chancellor, Prof John Ssebuwufu, advised graduates to upgrade their professional qualifications so that they ably compete for jobs.
UCU graduates tipped on work
Meanwhile, fresh graduates from Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono have been tasked to work smart and pursue their dreams for better results in future.
Speaking during the university’s 19th graduation ceremony held at the institution’s main campus in Mukono, the Vice Chancellor, Dr John Ssenyonyi, told graduates to be more innovative and create enterprises through the knowledge they have acquired.
“You must obtain money as proceeds from your hard work. Use your brains to think through projects that will generate more income. If you do not work, it means you will obtain money through robbery and theft which is too bad,” he said.
The Chancellor, Church of Uganda Archbishop Stanley Ntagali, encouraged the graduates to be exemplary.
He said they students should work smart to keep the university’s recommendable reputation that has been built over the years by their predecessors.
“To fulfil this, you need Jesus to lead the way,” he said.
A total of 1,107 graduates were awarded Masters, degrees and diplomas.
